Salmast Cuisine has long, rich history. In fact, it is believed to be the oldest cuisines in the Eastern Europe as some of its features have been linked to as early as 7th Century.
Salmast is known for its Cheesemaking. For centuries, the art of cheesemaking remained a local farm industry. It wasn’t until early 20th century that the first cheese factory was built in Salmast. Owned and operated by local Armenians, the factory flourished, and became one of the prominent factories to provide dairy products to the Iranian people.
